PASTOR TRAINING INSTITUTE

“Shepherd the flock of God that is among you.”

PTI Overview

The PTI is a one year cohort based program designed to help prepare men who aspire to the office of overseer (1 Tim. 3:1). The PTI gives aspiring pastors the opportunity to develop a biblical framework for pastoral ministry by focusing on theological, pastoral, and personal development through cohort-based mentoring.

3 Semesters

The one year program is divided into three semesters. The fall semester covers Systematic Theology. The spring semester covers Ecclesiology. The summer semester covers Pastoral Leadership.

Pastors are responsible for instructing and protecting Christ’s church with sound doctrine. Therefore, residents will enhance their understanding of God’s grand redemptive plan through a systematic study of Scripture.

Major theological doctrines such as the doctrines of Scripture, God, Man, Sin, Christ, Salvation, the Church, and Last Things will be read and discussed with the pastor(s).

1.

Theological Development

Pastoral residents will have opportunities to observe and engage in pastoral care and administration. Such opportunities include preaching, teaching, personal discipleship, visitation, attending pastor meetings, attending corporate church meetings, committee meetings, funerals, weddings, etc.

2.

Pastoral Development

Personal development primarily focuses on the resident’s spiritual health. The spiritual disciplines of Bible intake coupled with deep reflection and prayer will be emphasized.
